About Dr. D

Dr. Palmer graduated with a Bachelor of Physical Therapy from the University of Manitoba in 2004 and went on to complete her Doctor of Physical Therapy at A. T. Still University in 2009. Throughout her career, she has practiced in both hospital and out-patient settings in Canada, Northern Mariana Islands, Hawaii, California, and New York. Dr. Palmer has served as adjunct faculty for the Post-Professional DPT program at A. T. Still University since 2010. She is also a co-host of Untold Physio Stories Podcast, along with Dr. E.

Working with Dr. E locally for the past 2 years for clinical and business mentoring, she became an expert in website design, lead generation, SEO, and everything your site needs to stand out from the rest.

Dana specializes in wound care, non-invasive women’s health, Pilates, and website design. She has a special interest in working with pregnant and postpartum women to begin or continue with exercise. She has instructed wound care both in the academic and continuing education settings since 2006.

While working in the Northern Mariana Islands, Dana developed a Diabetes Foot and Wound Care program that reduced total amputations by 48% and major amputations by 71% among the island population. She expanded this program to many different islands and was invited to present her program at the CDC’s Division of Diabetes Translation conference in 2010.

Dana grew up in a small town that instilled a strong sense of community. Although she has lived and worked in many different places, those values have stayed with her and shaped her focus on patient-centered care. She started Dana Palmer Physical Therapy because she is passionate about delivering comprehensive treatment programs that move beyond the restrictions imposed by insurance companies. Her vision was to build a practice that could dedicate time to each individual patient and every aspect of their care. This includes Mobile and Telehealth services for those who have difficulty getting to a clinic. She is also involved in various community programs in the area to promote wellness.

Dana is married with two young children. Her husband serves in the U. S. Coast Guard, and has been a key support in her goals to improve physical therapy services. In their spare time, Dana and her family enjoy traveling, camping in their 1995 Eurovan, and spending time outdoors exploring, playing, or gardening. She spends as much time as possible every summer at her family’s lake cabin in Northwestern Ontario. She is a lover of obscure movie quotes, craft-beer (particularly IPAs), and is also a self-described “coffee snob!”
